The Effects Of Disobedience

Understanding-Creation-Banner-1Why does God frown upon our disobedience? Our disobedience threatens to undo the new work that God is doing within us. In so doing, our disobedience affects not only ourselves, but the rest of creation as well. How so? Our revelation as the sons of God will be hindered (delayed not denied) as it relates to our disobedience. Therefore, the rest of creation cannot experience its salvation from the corruptive acts of the Fall until we are revealed in our glorified bodies as sons of God (Rom. 8:18-23). Sin magnified within our lives and through our actions exposes our selfish nature which has to be destroyed daily through our obedience to God’s Word. Until then, we hold the rest of creation in subjection and bondage to the corrupt effects of the Fall. We must now ask ourselves, “Does it always have to be about us?”‪#‎thinkonthesethings‬

  1. One thing that bothers me about the obedience motif is that in both the Old and New Testaments, it has been used to justify slavery and its inherent evils. I come from a long line of Methodists and Presbyterians who fought to end slavery, yet some people, around the globe, point to this injunction of obedience to excuse this heinous crime. So sad.
