One In The Spirit

Large Group of Happy People standing together. There will be times in our lives wherein what we have within us is not enough to carry us through whatever station of life we are in. This is why God called us to be a community…a family…the Body of Christ. Each member has its particular gift(s) and functions in conjunction with the rest of the members of the Body (1 Cor. 12). We were not designed to function independently, but interdependently.

helping-upOf course, we rely upon God, for He is the Source from Whom we draw our strength. But we also rely upon one another. Paul teaches us to “bear ye one another’s burdens…” (Gal. 6:2), and “…we then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves…” (Rom. 15:1). In other words, we should be so interconnected that if you hurt, I should feel your pain and do whatever is possible to alleviate your pain. Conversely, if I am in need, then you should be able to assist me in my hour of need. However, this can only be done when we are truly one in the Spirit (Jn. 17:11, 22).

unityThe more we practice unity, the more we will become unified. The more we ‘walk in the Spirit’ of Christ, the more we will become unified. The more we surrender ourselves to Christ, the more we will become unified. Self must die in order for us to truly live. There will never be any unity unless there is first a denial of ourselves for the greater good of the entire Body of Christ…#‎thinkonthesethings
