“For who hath despised the day of small things…” (Zech. 4:10)? This question is placed before each one of us as we are presented with an opportunity to embark on a new journey in life. We question whether whatever we have within our possession is enough to begin the journey. If, we reason within ourselves, it is not enough to begin our journey, then how will it be enough to sustain us throughout the journey until the consummation of our lives. But once we place whatever it is we have within the hands of God, He is capable of doing far more with it than we will ever be able to do with it on our own.
In the beginning, God instructed every living part of His creation “…to be fruitful and multiply…” (Gen. 1:22,28). This leads us to believe that He understood that we would begin with little, and, as we continue to walk in obedience to His command, we would experience an increase. It is one of His principles that was spoken as a perpetual decree that is intended to continue throughout the ages to come until the consummation of time.
God intended for us to go through a process of development and growing pains. As we continue on the journey, we grow and mature in every area of life because of what we have experienced. If we are walking in obedience to God’s command and instruction, then we can expect to receive an increase in all areas of our lives. We become prosperous, not because we have amassed great wealth and material things. But we prosper because our souls have prospered (i.e., good health, shelter, employment, family, ministry opportunities, finances, etc.) as a result of obedience. This prosperity is to be used for the advancement of God’s Kingdom (Deut. 8:18). As we continue to walk in obedience, we will eventually see God “enlarging our territory…” (Deut. 28:1-14; 1 Chron. 4:9,10), thus enabling us to do more for His Kingdom…#thinkonthesethings
