When God Speaks…

We are living in a day and time wherein we are inundated with advertisements of self-help gurus and all types of coaches for whatever we need. Mentoring, in itself, is not a bad thing. However, as people of God, we must take serious precaution as it relates to who we allow to speak into our lives. King Solomon warns us to “…keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life…” (Prov. 4:23). It is also commonly heard within the contemporary church that we must “guard our anointing” as well.

God has chosen to speak to us through various means of communication (i.e., the Bible, our spirit, and sometimes through others). One thing is certain…when God speaks, we will surely know within our hearts that God has spoken. As a result of the relationship we have with Him and in our study of His Word, our inner man should be able to connect with the words being spoken to us. Why? Because whatever has been spoken in God’s name should align with what has already been spoken in His Word. God does not speak one thing within His Word, and then send a message that contradicts what He has said previously (Mal. 3:6).

warning-sign1God has issued a warning to those who presume to speak on His behalf,

“And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!…They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; albeit I have not spoken? Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord God. And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people…and ye shall know that I am the Lord God” (Ez. 13:1-3, 6-9).

When God speaks, we will know that it was He Who has spoken…#‎thinkonthesethings‬
