Never Alone

No one likes being alone. Not for long at least. However, the moment we decide to take a stand and live holy lives unto God, oftentimes, we will find ourselves walking alone. Holy living demands accountability and many people do not like being confronted with some of the truths they will discover about themselves upon seeing themselves as God sees them without the image of Christ in their lives. Truth be told, without the image of Christ being reflected within our lives, we are some of the most undesirable people. The righteousness of God in Christ Jesus makes us beautiful again. The fragrance of Christ’s life within causes us to be a sweet-smelling aroma unto God wherein He looks beyond our old ways and sees Christ in us. This all should be a good thing…right?

As beautiful as this may sound, it is a continuous process that causes us to lay aside much of the weight that can easily lead us to returning to many of our old ways (Heb. 12:1). Once again, truth be told, there are some things that we do not like to give up so easily because we still enjoy doing them. This is where the level of commitment to the covenant we have made with God through Christ becomes a cause for concern.

God calls us to lead a life of holiness now in exchange for the promise of an eternity spent with Him. In doing so, some of our family and friends will, unfortunately but realistically, walk away from us as holy living seems to be too high of a price to pay. Why? Because we like what we are doing. We like living in the now. We are afraid that holy living means that we can no longer enjoy life and have fun. But we do not understand that true living does not occur until we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and subscribe to His plan for our lives instead of our own.

walking-with-godSo what? We may lose some friends. God will replace them with new ones. So what? We may even have to leave behind some family members. God promises that

“…when my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up (adopt me as His child)…” (Ps. 27:10).

So…even though we may have to walk alone, we are never alone because God will be there walking with us…#‎thinkonthesethings‬

  1. That’s right, Sean. I experienced the same. As soon as you turn towards a life that is filled with love, joy and commitment the people around change or the presence of people around us changes.
