So Undeserved

So undeservedly, we receive from the goodness of God’s hand. So undeservedly, we receive from the deep reservoirs of God’s grace and mercy. So undeservedly, we receive an overabundance of God’s love. So undeservedly, we lavished with such great compassion from God. So what can we render unto the Lord for all of His benefits towards us? What do we have that has not come from His hand? The earth and all of creation belongs to Him and He rightfully has the authority to dispense at His pleasure…yet He does so, oh, so generously in spite of all of our failures…and regardless of all of our successes. We are deeply humbled at so great a love that our Father continuously lavishes upon us…we are extremely grateful because it is so undeserved…#‎thinkonthesethings‬

  1. I try to show you my view on that: We are God’s children and therefore of the same energy. How could we be undeserving? That would mean God thinks his creation was undeserving, parts of himself were undeserving. We are ingrate at times indeed. But I never believe we are undeserving. I would never say to my kids they are undeserving even if they are ingrate. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not a critic. It is only how I feel about it.

    1. We are God’s children once we become born again through Christ. Everything is through the finished work of Christ. If it were not for the grace, love and mercy of God, we would not have had salvation extended to us. As a result of the sin element being passed to us through Adam, we do not deserve the goodness that God extends to us because our nature is opposed to things of God until we in fact accept Christ as our Lord and Savior (Rom. 5:8-6:23; 8:1-17). There is no one who is righteous by their own merit (Rom. 3:9-12; Is.64:6-9). Therefore, we do not deserve the good that God has extended toward us based on our own merit. It is only because of the love, grace, mercy, compassion, and faithfulness of God for His creation that we receive that which we receive…not because we deserve it.

      1. I know what you mean, Sean! But to me we don’t need to earn God’s love because we are an extension of God’s love. During the journey of our life with all the encounters, happenings, and challenges we are supposed to remember that again!

      2. This is where there is a misunderstanding. I never mentioned anything about earning God’s love. I was describing the fact that everything that God does and has done for us is based on Divine Initiative, not something that we deserve or earn. God gives to us because He chooses to, not because we deserve it or have earned it. We can only be an extension of God’s love if we receive the love that He has chosen to extend to us. Not because we deserve it or have earned it, but because He has chosen to do so. He loves us, not because of our actions, but because He is love. If it were based upon our actions, then we would not deserve it nor would be able to earn it. Thank God for Jesus…thank God for His mercy and His grace. These are the things that make us worthy…God’s standards are higher than ours, there is no way we, in and of ourselves, could either deserve or earn it…

      3. Yep, there really was a misunderstanding. In the end we say the same again only with different words 😊 I like that…. but we are never undeserving 😉
