Humility Before Honor

When you have been chosen by God to fulfill a task, you must be sure to put forth your very best effort in consideration of the fact that the King has selected you instead of someone else to represent Him. It is not a cause for boasting nor an elevation in pride, but a cause to bow before Him in humility and in utter dependence upon His ability to assist you in carrying out the task. Should we choose to accept the assignment, remember that it is God Who gives us the strength and the ability in order to accomplish all things.

James says,

But He giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, ‘God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble…Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up…”  (4:6, 10).

Peter says,

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…” (1 Pet. 5:6).

Remember, we do not have to promote ourselves when it comes to working in the service of the Lord. God knows where we are and what we are doing in His name. The Psalmist stated,

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another…” (75:6).

In other words, accept the assignment and leave the rest to God. Paul says, “For I say…to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly…” (Rom. 12:3). Why? Because “…before honor is humility…” (Prov. 15:33)…#thinkonthesethings

  1. Such a timely word this morning as I sit here pondering about my assigned task at hand. May God continue to bless you as you continue to encourage others in their walk with the Lord…
