In the realm of Christianity, we have sometimes used our positions as ‘sons of God‘ to isolate and insulate ourselves from those outside of the Body of Christ. This is not how God intended for it to be. We use the Scriptures inappropriately to support this stance when we say, “The Bible tells us to ‘be in this world, but not of this world.'”
This is true. We are to exist alongside others who have not yet accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. However, if we completely pull ourselves away from being exposed to the world, then how are we to witness and witness effectively to a world who does not know Christ? Not being of the world is not an excuse to remain isolated from it. It is an instruction that teaches us how to be able to live as productive members within an increasingly God-less society while demonstrating how to live a lifestyle according to His Kingdom principles.
If we fail to allow the light of the Gospel and the love of God flow through us by hiding within the four walls of our spiritual country club with ‘our four and no more’ mentality, then we will fail successfully at being the living standard of Kingdom living…#thinkonthesethings
