What About The Children?

“…We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done…” (Ps. 78:4).

How do we make known the wonderful works of the Lord to our children if we do not remember them? We often forget things He’s done until we fall into another critical situation and need Him again. In this passage of Scripture, the Psalmist is telling us that we should rehearse the mighty acts of God within the home and in the hearing of our posterity to ensure that a spiritual legacy is continued within our family throughout the generations. We do not want our children to follow in our footsteps unless we can honestly say that we have been faithful to keep God’s commandments wholeheartedly. This is why we are admonished to meditate upon the law of the Lord both day and night. This causes the Word of God to become so intertwined within our spirit man that it becomes who we are and should be…the living Word.

  1. Amen Sean! If I ever have the privilege of fatherhood, I will definitely rear my children through the Word. Also thank you for visiting Th3 platform. I hope you become a regular attendee. Blessings.

    1. To God Be The Glory! Even if they choose to go another way, as long as you know that you have provided them with the right foundation…you can rest assured that God will continue to honor your efforts.

  2. Great post! Have you ever tried writing your own family psalm together? If you ever do, I’m hereby requesting that you post it! 😁

  3. Great post Sean! Have you ever tried writing your own family psalm as a group project? If you ever do, here’s my advance request for you to post it! 😁

  4. Sean, this really resonates with me. Through my battles of physical/mental health, relationships and other aspects of life, I have learned to seek out and be thankful for all the good things, little and big. I praise the Lord for them as much or even more than I pray for help in the bad times. And I delve into His word as often as possible.

    1. His Word is the key to every concern we may have…we have to trust the Holy Spirit to lead us to the exact point which addresses the concern. Thanks for sharing…
