A Singular Focus

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might…” (Deut. 6:4,5).

This verse and the one which follows speak of God’s expectation of exclusive worship to Him alone. This is the foundation of the covenant relationship established between God and the Nation of Israel, but is intended to also be the foundation of our covenant relationship with Him as believers. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. We are grafted into the family of Abraham, but born into the Family of God. Both with the sole purpose of living exclusively in an exclusive, covenant relationship with an Exclusive, Covenant God and Father.

We complicate a lifestyle that is very simple. The problem is that we have far too many choices from which to choose. But God created us with the intention of our having a singular focus upon worshipping Him alone. However, the enemy of our souls has attempted to interrupt this One, Singular Point of Focus by causing distractions through initiating thinking that is independent of our created dependence upon God. We, in the Body of Christ, have fallen into the trap by shifting our focus from the one thing that matters most: our relationship with God.

Sometimes we have to step back and shake off some of the things that have attached themselves to us to regain the freedom to worship God in spirit and in truth…with one singular focus and one singular purpose in mind…It all begins here…
