Daily Meditations

“Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people…'” (Deut. 4:6).

Reading and adhering to the Word of God helps to develop our spiritual character and instills Godly wisdom within to form the basis for our daily decisions in life. As we interact with others, the Holy Spirit brings the Kingdom principles found within the Word of God to the forefront of our minds. Upon hearing the wisdom of God, others are confounded and become either more intrigued or greatly offended (1 Cor. 1:27; Jn. 6:25-71).

Living our lives using Godly wisdom is also one of the bedrocks of our Christian witness. The moment we make a conscious choice to operate outside of the wisdom of God, we take the risk of destroying our witness within the world. If we continue to function as such, it will ultimately destroy our character and our reputation will be greatly damaged. In instances like this, it is often difficult to repair the breach that is caused by our words and actions. If the situation can be repaired and relationships can be restored, it often will take a great amount of time before the same level of trust and confidence is restored.

This is the importance of cleaving to the Word of God and meditating upon it both day and night. As the psalmist correctly states, the person who takes delight in the Word and does this “shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Ps. 1:2,3).
