“Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children…” (Deut. 4:10).
God has three things that He requires of us as we enter into our land of promise: 1) We need to HEAR His words of instruction, 2) We need to LEARN to fear (reverence) Him, and 3) We need to LIVE by His Word and teach them to others. These are not mere requests. They are commands which must be executed faithfully on a daily basis to distinguish our relationship with God from our relationship with others.
Our obedience distinguishes us from others within the world. Our obedience distinguishes us as those who are in this world, but not of this world because the Kingdom of our King is not of this world (Jn. 8:23;15:19;16:28;17:14,16;18:36,37). We are citizens of His Kingdom, therefore we should live as though we are His representatives while we are here on earth. It is not a responsibility to be taken lightly, but must be taken with the utmost sense of urgency as the signs of the times point toward the return of the soon, coming King.
