More Than Meets The Eye, Pt. 2

“And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice…” (Deut. 4:12).

It is within our human nature to want to associate a face to the person with whom we are speaking. So we tend to find difficulty in believing the inspired words given to us from the Invisible Godhead. However, by investing time in reading, studying and internalizing these words, we soon realize that the words are no longer mere words written on a page. They truly become God-breathed and we are able to accept them as we begin understand that “…they are spirit, and they are life…” (Jn. 6:63).

The Body of Christ must refocus and shift our emphasis from the external factors back to what truly matters…and these are the things of God. This is not to say that we should neglect everything else. It is a call to prioritize every facet of our lives and place the greater importance on the things which will influence our decisions and our lifestyles.

  1. Your post makes me think about the way Scripture becomes real to me–which is only when I can imagine how it looks in my life. Real life. Concretely. Not just as inspiring and inspired words. Thanks, Sean! 🙂
