“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…” (Jam. 1:5).
Oftentimes we are given a word directly from the Lord and we are quick to share it with others. It may be a word of blessing. It may be a word of instruction. Or it may be a word of warning. We must, however, be careful of sharing these words with others because the words (more often than not) could be meant for us alone.
Sometimes, we do not understand why some people respond or react in the manner which they do upon hearing the word, but it very well could be that the “word” we have shared was not meant for them. We have to be discerning within our spirits to know when to speak and when to be silent. Many of us will have to give an account because of some of the damage that has occurred within the Body of Christ due to our negligence.
When God gives us a word, we should examine ourselves first to ascertain if the word was meant for our lives before speaking to others. If we truly have the Spirit of God living within, He will confirm within our spirit the purpose for which the word was spoken. He will lead and guide us in how to respond appropriately to the word. He will never leave us guessing nor will He leave us blind to the truth.
We have to be open to receiving whatever the purpose may be for the word. God sees and knows all. We need only seek Him for direction in these matters. It can prevent much hurt within the Body of Christ and within the world as well.
