“The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law…” (Deut. 29:29).
Have you ever wondered why God does not reveal certain things to us when He gives us His plan for our lives initially? I have. Oftentimes, I still do. We wonder, “What is the big deal about sharing every detail so we will know what we need to do, when we need to do it and how we should plan to do it, etc.”
Herein lies the problem. If God were to reveal everything to us from the onset of His call, we would (in our humanity and foolishness) run ahead into whatever He has planned for us without Him and without a second thought. We would presume to think that we could figure out the solution to certain situations without consulting God. We would cease to trust in Him as we normally would because we would have all of the answers lying before us.
Does this mean that this is God’s way of controlling us? Not by any stretch of the imagination. God knows that, in our humanity, we are unable to handle some of the things by which we will be confronted. God understands that we have an enemy that is relentless and powerful and will stop at nothing to destroy us because of our relationship with God. In other words, the reason God withholds some information is to protect us from ourselves.
Do we like this? No. But once we gain insight into this, we are better able to accept it because we realize that God is just being a good Father. He loves His children so much that He is willing to be on the receiving end of their anger if it means that they will be protected from harm and the works of the enemy.
Keep this in mind the next time God only provides you with a glimpse of your destiny…
