More Than We Know

All it takes is one sin to destroy an entire community.

“Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood…” (Deut. 29:18).

There is no such such thing as an isolated event when it comes to the effects of sin and disobedience. Whether we realize and acknowledge it or not, the consequences of our actions affect everyone with whom we have a covenant relationship. The effects of our sin and disobedience spread like cancerous cells throughout our families, our communities, and our nation. It brings forth destruction and God’s judgment upon everyone as a whole. Until we acknowledge our sin and disobedience, turn away from it and return to God wholeheartedly, the effects of our actions will linger and continue to cause further damage to our relationships. My prayer is that we will respond when God offers to open our hearts to understand, our eyes to see, our ears to hear and our will to obey when He speaks to us.
