The Portrait Of A Mother

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies…She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household…She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple…She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed…Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all…” (Prov. 31:10, 13-22, 24-29).

A mother is a gift from God. She is the backbone of the family and the strength of a nation. The beauty of her undying and unconditional love for her children is a reflection of the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. The many sacrifices she has made to ensure that her children had all of their needs met…the many late nights spent wiping their little running noses…were never a burden to her, but more of a delight that she would readily do over again because she loves them so much.

No one captures the heart of a child like a mother does…no one has the special place in the life of a child that a mother does…no one has the healing touch for a child that a mother does…regardless of how old the child becomes, the child knows that when he or she turns around…”Mom” will always be there to offer love and support when everyone else has given up and turned away…

There are so many wonderful stories being told today about mothers all over the world. Cherish and celebrate your mother while she is still with you…Honor her with your life when she is gone…but whatever you do…NEVER EVER forget to tell her how much you love and appreciate her just simply for being “Mom”…
