The Divine Presence

“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the captain of the Lord’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so…” (Josh. 5:13-15).

We are powerless to effect change in the events of history apart from the power of the Almighty God. The Bible teaches us that “…in Him we live, and move, and have our being…” (Acts 17:28). As a result, we rely heavily upon God to bring about the necessary scenarios which will allow us to mature into the spiritual warriors He is calling us to become. Because is this, we can never enter into a new situation with the hopes of being successful without the Divine Presence of God. Without Him, we can never know what we will face upon entering any environment. Without Him, we can never know and understand how to take dominion of the environment to assert the Kingdom agenda within it.

Our destiny and purpose are intricately tied to the need for the Divine Presence. We will never accomplish anything of significant and lasting importance without it. The key to being successful is cultivating and maintaining an intimate relationship with God. As we continue to develop, He reveals more of Himself in ways that are relevant to any situation. Therefore, once we unlock and open the door to invite God’s Divine Presence into our lives, everything will forever change.
