It is Friday again, and I get to write about whatever it is I would like to write about. I look forward to Fridays sometimes because there are those times when I have a lot on my mind to say. Then, there are those days that I do not. Today is one of those days that I do not.
I am sitting back and observing how many pieces will be written about Good Friday. To me, every Friday I am graced with the opportunity to open my eyes, I have good health and every need met is a good Friday to me. But I understand what it means when we say ‘Good Friday’. However, I have decided that I do not want to jump on the bandwagon and write about it. Why? Because I believe that there are more than enough people writing about it. Sometimes, I just would like to be a part of the reading audience, and not be the one doing the exhaustive expository work. It creates a good balance in life to be able to learn from others.
In consideration of this, there is one particular blog that has peaked my interest this past week: Inmate Blogger. The people behind the pieces being written have much to say and have found a way to say it. Much of what is written is very informative about life from their perspective…a life behind bars.
I think we tend to forget about people once they have an encounter with law enforcement and become incarcerated. I also think we should take the time to listen to some of their stories. Every now and then, leave them a comment about what they have shared. It gives them hope and self-confidence about still being connected as a member of society. It lets them know that they have not been forgotten. It lets them know that their lives do matter…Besides, is this not one of the reasons we commemorate this Holy Day weekend?
What are your thoughts? I would appreciate any feedback from anyone as this is a community effort to living our best life in honor of the One Who has given us this life to live. Love God…love others…love yourself!
