“…Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world…” (1 Jn 4:4).
The job of the enemy is to make us feel as though our life’s situations are our permanent reality. Nothing could be further from the truth. The mere perception of a life destined for defeat is a lie from the enemy. The Bible teaches us that “…we are more than conquerors…”, and, that God “…causes us to triumph in Christ…” (Rom. 8:37; 2 Cor. 2:14).
What this tells me is that regardless of how difficult a situation may be, I am going to come through victoriously if I continue to rely on Jesus. His power alone can stay the hand of the enemy in every circumstance. The moment we forget Who is living on the inside of us is the moment the enemy can sneak in to deceive us.
This whole life is a battle for our minds, which will eventually lead to the conquering of our souls. The difference is that we allow the Holy Spirit to assume control over our lives. The devil just usurps control without asking. He is only concerned with destroying anyone that attempts to escape from the clutches of his domination.
In the final analysis, the point is this…God does not merely want to help us overcome just in order to place us in captivity again. He wants us to live in complete liberty from the tyrannical oppression of the enemy. Therefore, whom He has set free is truly free to live in liberty (Jn. 8:36). Because God lives within us, His victory automatically becomes our victory…we need only to believe and embrace it as reality by faith.
